Lake Louise Ski Resort Breaks December Snowfall Records
The Lake Louise Ski Resort in Banff has achieved a remarkable feat this holiday season, breaking its December snowfall record. The resort announced on December 24, 2023, that recent snow accumulation has positioned it for what could be one of the best ski seasons in its history.
According to a media release from the resort, a significant snowfall of 16 cm within the last 24 hours contributed to a total of 72 cm over the past week. The cumulative snowfall for December has now reached 266 cm, adding up to an impressive 463 cm for the current season. The release emphasized, “The fun isn’t over yet,” as additional snow is expected on Christmas Eve and through the following day.
Resort Fully Operational for Holiday Skiing
With all 149 runs open, along with three terrain parks and a tube park, the resort is ready to welcome winter sports enthusiasts. The abundant snowfall has created ideal conditions for skiing and snowboarding, drawing visitors from near and far to enjoy the winter activities.
The holiday spirit was further heightened last weekend when a grizzly bear named Split Lip made a brief appearance. The bear was spotted near the Santa Slalom ski race, much to the surprise of attendees, before retreating into the surrounding woods.
As Lake Louise Ski Resort continues to embrace this extraordinary snowfall, it stands poised to celebrate what many hope will be the whitest Christmas on record. With ongoing weather forecasts predicting additional snowfall, the excitement among skiers and snowboarders is palpable.
The combination of record-breaking snowfall and festive cheer positions Lake Louise as a prime destination for winter sports this holiday season. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the exceptional skiing conditions while they last.
