Australia Leads World in AI Engagement with 5 Million Uses Per Capita
A recent survey has identified Australia as the country most engaged with artificial intelligence (AI), recording over 5 million uses of AI per capita. This finding highlights significant variations in AI adoption and reliance across different nations. The study, conducted by Eskimoz, examined three key factors: total visits to AI-themed websites and applications, traffic per 100,000 residents, and the rate of visits to AI tools.
The report shows that while Australians dominate in AI interactions, many European countries also demonstrate strong reliance on this technology. On a global scale, AI usage increased by 20% in 2025, indicating a growing dependence on AI technologies.
Breakdown of Global AI Usage Trends
Australia’s remarkable statistic of 5 million AI visits per 100,000 residents translates to a staggering total of 1.35 billion AI interactions annually. Nearly 2% of this activity is attributed to AI tools, including chatbots and content generators. Following closely is the Netherlands, with just under 5 million interactions per capita and an overall total of 917 million annual uses.
Canada ranks third, reporting 4.8 million interactions per capita, resulting in a total of 2 billion annual AI visits. Canadians tend to favor specialized AI tools, which make up 2.4% of their overall AI queries, significantly higher than Australia’s usage rate.
The United States holds the fourth position, with the highest overall AI traffic. In just one year, AI was used 16.4 billion times, far surpassing any other nation. AI tools account for 20% of this total traffic, marking the highest percentage among the surveyed countries. Despite its large population, the U.S. maintains a high per capita engagement with 4.7 million AI interactions.
In fifth place, the United Kingdom shows a usage rate of 3.5 million AI interactions per capita, culminating in approximately 2.4 billion total queries annually. A notable 3% of these visits involve AI tools.
AI Engagement by Country
Germany ranks sixth, with total AI interactions reaching 2.6 billion. The country exhibits a strong reliance on AI tools, accounting for 3.18% of all visits. Spain follows in seventh place, with a similar reliance pattern, reporting 1.4 billion AI interactions and a per capita rate of 3 million.
France, in eighth place, has a usage rate of 2.9 million AI interactions per capita. With a total of 1.9 billion visits to AI platforms, France surpasses Spain in overall traffic. The share of AI tools in France also reaches 2.4%, higher than Canada’s percentage.
Peru stands out as the only South American country in the rankings, occupying the ninth position with a usage rate of 2.6 million interactions per capita. The country registered a total of 926 million AI visits, showing a notable reliance on AI services.
Lastly, Malaysia rounds out the top ten with a per capita rate of 2.4 million AI interactions, totaling 888 million visits. AI tools account for 1.09% of this activity.
The findings from this survey by Eskimoz underscore the increasing global reliance on AI technologies, with Australia emerging as a leader in engagement. As AI continues to evolve and integrate into daily life, understanding these trends will be crucial for policymakers and businesses alike.
