Prairie Rose Schools Anticipate Major Growth and Innovation in 2026
Prairie Rose Public Schools (PRPS) is gearing up for a year of significant academic progress and innovation in 2026. Following a busy year marked by the introduction of new board members during the 2025 election, Superintendent Reagan Weeks expressed optimism about the dedication and hard work demonstrated across the school division.
“I think the most exciting thing is that our teachers have continued to do really wonderful work with students,” said Weeks. “We’ve seen a lot of academic growth and commitment to student success.”
Key Initiatives and Future Plans
A major highlight includes the commencement of work on the upcoming Yuill School of Agriculture. This new facility aims to bridge existing agricultural programs, such as AgPro and the Irvine Agricultural Discovery Centre, allowing students to pursue agricultural studies throughout their educational journey.
Throughout the past year, PRPS has emphasized the importance of “vertical curriculum mapping.” This initiative enhances coordination among teachers across various grade levels, ensuring that students master essential skills before advancing to the next stage of their education. “Teachers have been really excited about the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues teaching the same subjects, as well as connect with the grades above and below,” Weeks added.
The school division has also made significant advancements with its new before- and after-school care program, which is based at Eagle Butte High School.
Commitment to Student Success
Looking ahead, PRPS plans to expand its programs to include a junior high curriculum focused on aviation for students interested in this field earlier in their education. “We’re continuing to do some deep work in numeracy,” stated Weeks, noting that feedback from teachers piloting the new curriculum will be vital to ensure they have the necessary resources.
This initiative aligns with the “Ignite Minds” component of PRPS’s strategic priorities, which also emphasizes creating connections and fostering positive childhood experiences. Another focus area includes enhancing leadership and public speaking skills within all micro school programs. “We hear about the work that they do in 4-H and how much of a positive impact that has,” Weeks remarked. “The confidence it gives students to speak to adults and share information powerfully is crucial.”
Overall, PRPS is poised for a rewarding year ahead, committed to fostering academic growth and ensuring student success throughout the school division.
