Sooke Seedy Saturday 2026 Set for February 28 at Community Hall
The annual Sooke Seedy Saturday is scheduled to take place on February 28, 2026, at the Sooke Community Hall, located at 2037 Shields Road. This popular event will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and will provide a vibrant marketplace for food-growing enthusiasts in the region. Visitors are encouraged to attend, and donations will be welcomed to support local initiatives.
Numerous vendors, including seed and plant suppliers, will set up booths to share valuable information and offer items for sale. The event serves as a hub for those passionate about gardening and sustainable food practices, making it a highly anticipated occasion each year. Registration for both vendors and volunteers can be completed online, ensuring smooth participation for all involved.
Promoting Local Food Sustainability
The Sooke Seedy Saturday is organized by Sooke Region Food CHI, an organization dedicated to promoting local food sustainability within the rural Sooke area. Over the years, the group has engaged the community in various initiatives aimed at enhancing food security and resilience.
Recently, Sooke Region Food CHI awarded the 2025 Sooke Region Food CHI Farmer Bursary to Amber Rowse-Robinson of Brass Bell Farm. This bursary will support the completion of the farm’s new dairy facility, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to fostering local agricultural development.
In addition to Sooke Seedy Saturday, Sooke Food CHI organizes events throughout the year, including a fall harvest festival often referred to as Apple Fest, furthering their mission to engage the community in sustainable food practices and local agricultural education.
As the date approaches, anticipation is building for another successful Sooke Seedy Saturday, where community members can connect, learn, and celebrate local food production.
