OSF HealthCare is set to host a free community health event on November 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bureau County Metro Center, located at 837 Park Ave. W, Princeton. This initiative aims to provide essential health services to local residents, ensuring access to vital screenings and educational resources.

The event will feature complimentary health screenings conducted aboard the OSF OnCall King Care-A-Van. Participants can receive checks for blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels, contributing to early detection and management of potential health issues. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in virtual visits with OSF OnCall providers, who can address common ailments such as sore throats and viral illnesses.

Testing for COVID-19, flu, and strep throat will also be available on-site without the need for appointments. This aspect is particularly relevant as communities continue to navigate health challenges in the wake of the pandemic.

Diabetes Education and Nutrition Advice

Kandi Burlingame, OSF’s diabetes resource educator, will lead a session focused on diabetes education. She will discuss symptoms and management strategies, providing attendees with valuable information to help them monitor and control their health effectively.

In addition to diabetes support, the University of Illinois Extension will be present to offer healthy eating samples, recipes, and nutrition advice. Their focus will be on heart health, empowering participants to make informed dietary choices that can enhance their overall well-being.

This community health event is open to the public, making it an accessible opportunity for individuals and families to prioritize their health. For further details, interested individuals can reach out to Samantha Rux at (815) 876-2390.

OSF HealthCare’s commitment to community health reflects an ongoing effort to improve access to essential services and promote wellness among residents in Princeton. By providing these free resources, the organization aims to foster a healthier community and support individuals in managing their health proactively.
