Remembering Diane Madsen: A Life of Love and Community
Diane Madsen, a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at the Comox Valley Hospital in Courtenay, British Columbia. Born on October 9, 1944, Diane spent her early years in Vancouver, where she received her education before embarking on a career with BC Tel and later in retail.
Diane’s journey took her through various towns in British Columbia, ultimately leading her to settle in Surrey. It was there that she met and married her beloved husband, Ken Madsen. After a few years, the couple moved to Richmond, BC, where they enjoyed life on a picturesque property surrounded by farmland and a golf course.
In 2011, Diane and Ken relocated to Courtenay, situated in the scenic Comox Valley. This move allowed Diane to continue her life surrounded by love and nature. She shared her days with Ken, relishing the beauty of their surroundings and the companionship they built over their 42 years of marriage.
Diane is remembered fondly by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Arnott, her mother, Lois (Laughton) Arnott, her brother Ray, and sister-in-law Betsy. She also mourned the loss of her mother-in-law, Lois Madsen, along with numerous aunts and uncles.
In her passing, Diane leaves behind a supportive family, including her devoted husband, Ken, her niece Karen, and nephews Dave and Craige. The family extends their gratitude to Ken’s relatives, specifically his sister Laurie and brother-in-law Al, along with nieces and nephews David, Chris, Jackie, and Teri, for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
Ken Madsen expressed deep appreciation for the dedicated health care workers from Island Health who provided daily care for Diane in their home. Their commitment to ensuring Diane’s comfort was invaluable.
A gathering to honor Diane’s memory and spread her ashes will take place in the future, allowing family and friends to celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on those who knew her. Diane Madsen’s legacy of love and community will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
