The Windsor Police Service issued a total of 70 tickets for various traffic offenses during a recent RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program conducted on the night of October 20, 2023. Officers were actively monitoring the streets, stopping 248 vehicles throughout the city to enhance road safety.

During the initiative, police conducted three roadside tests aimed at detecting impaired drivers. Fortunately, no arrests were made for impaired driving, indicating that many motorists made responsible choices. The tickets issued covered a range of violations, including speeding, stunt driving, and distracted driving.

Windsor police expressed gratitude to those who adhered to traffic regulations. “We thank all motorists who made the responsible choice to drive sober and follow the rules of the road,” a police spokesperson stated. The program underscores the ongoing commitment to improving road safety and reducing the risk of impaired driving incidents.

Community members are encouraged to continue prioritizing safety while driving, especially during evenings and weekends when the likelihood of impaired driving incidents can increase. The RIDE program is part of a broader strategy employed by police to foster a safer driving environment for everyone in the community.
