Volunteers Unite to Wrap Gifts for Peru’s Christmas for Kids
On December 16, 2025, over 50 volunteers came together at the City of Peru Public Safety Complex to wrap gifts for the Blue and Red Christmas for Kids. This charitable initiative aims to deliver presents to 85 children in need, with the distribution scheduled for December 19.
Community Support Fuels Initiative
The program relies on contributions from local schools, which provided toys along with the names and Christmas lists of the children. This collaborative effort highlights the spirit of community engagement, as local organizations rallied to support the cause. Notably, the City of Peru contributed $2,000 in November to bolster the program’s resources.
Established in 2013 by the Peru Police Department and Peru Fire Department, the Christmas program goes beyond simply distributing gifts. It focuses on providing personalized items tailored to each child and their family, ensuring that they receive meaningful presents, including clothing and toys.
Making a Difference in Children’s Lives
The initiative not only aims to bring joy to children during the holiday season but also fosters a sense of connection and support within the community. Volunteers expressed their enthusiasm for participating in the event, emphasizing the importance of giving back and making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
As the program gears up for its upcoming delivery, the anticipation is building among the volunteers and families involved. The success of the Blue and Red Christmas for Kids serves as a reminder of the impact that community efforts can have during the festive season, highlighting the profound difference that thoughtful generosity can make in the lives of children. Through collective action, the City of Peru continues to exemplify the spirit of community and kindness that defines this time of year.
