Todd Kyllo Joins Sicamous Planning Committee for New Term
A familiar figure has returned to the District of Sicamous council chambers. Todd Kyllo has been appointed to the planning and development committee, effective January 1, 2026. This follows the resignation of Deb Heap, a long-serving member of the committee, at the end of 2025. Kyllo, a former Sicamous councillor and owner of Twin Anchors Marine, will serve a two-year term.
The appointment was made by Mayor Colleen Anderson, who consulted with committee members Couns. Ian Baillie and Gord Bushell during the selection process. The decision followed a thorough review of the applications submitted for the position. During the Committee of the Whole meeting on January 14, Anderson expressed confidence in Kyllo’s abilities.
“We were looking for a lot of experience in development and knowledge on permits, zoning, and variances,” Anderson stated. “We felt that Todd at this point would be a great choice.”
Kyllo’s background includes his role as chair of the Sicamous Narrows Environmental Enhancement Society and his participation in the Economic Development Corporation. These experiences, according to Anderson, contribute valuable insights relevant to his new responsibilities on the committee.
At Kyllo’s inaugural meeting on January 22, Baillie officially welcomed him to the team. He acknowledged the contributions made by Heap throughout her tenure, saying, “Thank you for stepping up and serving your community. You’re filling some pretty big shoes after Deb has decided, after many years of service, to go off and pursue one of her other hundreds of things she does for this community.” Baillie expressed appreciation for Kyllo’s willingness to contribute his time and expertise to the local planning and development efforts.
As Kyllo steps into this role, the committee anticipates his knowledge and experience will greatly benefit the ongoing initiatives in Sicamous. The district’s focus on effective planning and development remains crucial for its growth and sustainability in the coming years.
