Surrey Schools Prepare for New Academic Year Starting Sept. 2

The countdown to the start of the school year in Surrey has begun, with classes resuming on September 2, 2025. As summer days linger, Surrey Schools has shared essential details for parents, caregivers, and students regarding what to expect during the opening week.
School Office Hours and Gradual Entry for Kindergarten
Secondary school offices are already operational from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Elementary school offices will open starting August 25, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., providing support for families as they prepare for the new academic year. For kindergarten students, a gradual entry schedule will be in effect for the first two weeks. Specific start dates and times for each kindergarten class will be communicated through email and school websites. All kindergarten students will transition to full-time attendance by September 15.
Classes for students in Grades 1 to 7 will commence at 10 a.m. on the first day, with early dismissal planned. Each school will provide individual details regarding start and dismissal times. Secondary schools will also implement shortened schedules on the opening day, which may vary by school and grade level.
Learning Centres and Registration Information
Students attending learning centres should confirm class start times and dates with their respective locations. Learning centre offices will be open from August 25, and information about opening dates will be provided by SAIL.
Registration for new students is set to begin on August 25 for classes starting in September. Parents and students new to Surrey Schools can access registration details online. The district offers support for English language learners (ELL), which includes registration assistance, placement assessments, and access to settlement and multicultural worker services.
For further information on school schedules and registration, families are encouraged to visit the Surrey Schools website. As the new academic year approaches, the district is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for all students and their families.
