Skipper Otto Launches Home Delivery of Sustainable Seafood Across Canada

Skipper Otto Community Supported Fishery has expanded its services to include home delivery of wild, sustainably sourced seafood across British Columbia and Alberta. This initiative allows members to receive flash-frozen seafood directly from Canadian fishing families at their doorsteps, ensuring both convenience and quality.
Sonia Strobel, Co-Founder and CEO of Skipper Otto, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, stating, “With this expansion, members in communities across BC and Alberta can now enjoy the convenience of having their seafood delivered to their homes without compromising on the quality, traceability, or sustainability they expect from Skipper Otto.”
The new home delivery service covers major city centres, making it more accessible for consumers than ever before. In Alberta, residents of Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Canmore can now enjoy this service. In British Columbia, delivery is available in Metro Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Comox, Whistler, Squamish, Kelowna, Penticton, and Kamloops. Additionally, members in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal will continue to benefit from home delivery options.
The ordering process is designed to be straightforward. Members can select the “Deliver to Me” option and choose their preferred delivery date when placing an order. There are no minimum order requirements, and a flat delivery fee of $25 applies to all home deliveries. Customers receive estimated delivery times and tracking information, ensuring a seamless experience.
To maintain product quality, each delivery is packaged in insulated boxes with dry ice, allowing the seafood to remain frozen even if members are not at home to receive their packages. Feedback from members has been positive, with one Toronto resident commenting, “Everything was perfectly wrapped to keep cool. Thank you for handling the seafood with such care — and everything is delicious, as always!”
For over 17 years, Skipper Otto has connected Canadians with seafood sourced directly from local fishing families, even for those not living near the coast. While members can still opt for free order pick-up at over 80 locations nationwide, the new delivery service significantly increases access to high-quality, sustainably sourced seafood.
In addition to providing convenience, Skipper Otto supports small-scale, independent Canadian fishing families, ensuring fair compensation for harvesters and fostering a transparent, sustainable local food system. This commitment to sustainability and local economies is a fundamental aspect of Skipper Otto’s mission.
