The City of Quesnel has introduced nine candidates for the 2026 Quesnel Ambassador Leadership Program, marking a significant step in their leadership and community service journey. The program aims to cultivate leadership and public speaking skills among young community members, offering them opportunities for fundraising, public appearances, and community service.

During the council meeting held on March 3, Mayor Ron Paull welcomed the current ambassadors and formally introduced the new candidates along with their sponsors. The enthusiasm for the program was palpable, as Grace Cassidy, one of the 2025 ambassadors, expressed her excitement: “We are so excited for the next five months with our incredible candidates. We get to watch them grow, learn, and represent our community leading up to our showcase and awards night on July 8 and 9.”

The significance of the year 2026 was highlighted by Ociah Woodruff, the other 2025 ambassador. She noted that it marks the 70th anniversary of the program, which began in 1956 when the first Miss Quesnel was crowned. “We can’t wait to honour the history while cheering on the future of our program,” Woodruff stated.

A traditional pinning ceremony, led by Councillor Debra McKelvie, recognized the new candidates as they embark on their leadership journey. The participants and their sponsors for the 2026 Quesnel Ambassador Leadership Program are as follows:

– Jane Agboji – Bliss!
– Daniella Agboji – William Lacy Real Estate
– Kathy Rempel – James Rempel Law Corporation
– Sebastien Denis – 768 Jet Ranger Squadron
– Nora Aziz – Regency Chrysler
– Katie Singer – Brent Bursey & Company Inc.
– Sophie Denis – Rotary Club of Quesnel
– Sorcha McMillan – AC&D Insurance
– Abigail Russell – Reason 2 Run

The program will run for six months, culminating in the selection of the ambassadors. As the candidates prepare for their roles, the Quesnel community looks forward to witnessing the growth and development of these future leaders.
