Princeton Posse Force Game 6 with Victory Over Kelowna Chiefs
The Princeton Posse have extended their playoff journey by defeating the Kelowna Chiefs 6-3 in a crucial Game 5 of the KIJHL playoffs. With this victory, Princeton has staved off elimination and brought the best-of-seven series to a tense Game 6. Currently, Kelowna leads the series 3-2, with the next matchup scheduled for Saturday night, March 14, 2024, in Kelowna.
Princeton’s high-energy performance was highlighted by Justice Loewen, who scored two goals, including the pivotal game-winner in the third period. Both teams showcased their offensive skills, with the starting goalkeepers, Gibson Horne for Princeton and Michael Makowsky for Kelowna, each making an impressive 41 saves.
The first period saw Princeton’s Carson Hebert net the opening goal, marking his first of the playoffs. The momentum shifted in the second period when Aiden Bruce tied the game for Kelowna less than 90 seconds into the frame. The two teams traded goals, with Princeton’s Ben Dods and Loewen scoring alongside Kelowna’s Matthew Balderston and Kaiden Sydenham, creating an exciting back-and-forth dynamic.
Loewen’s second goal, which occurred at 7:38 in the third period, proved to be the game-winner. Following this, Will Bell added an insurance goal on the power play, pushing the score to 5-3 just four minutes later. The game concluded with Cale Chimera securing the victory by shooting the puck into an empty net.
With the series set to continue, the Princeton Posse will aim to capitalize on their momentum in Game 6, while the Kelowna Chiefs will look to secure their place in the next round of the playoffs. The stakes are high as both teams vie for a spot in the KIJHL playoffs, promising an exhilarating conclusion to this tightly contested series.
