Health Canada has announced the recall of the Nuby IceBite Keys teething ring due to contamination with microbial bacteria. This product, intended for toddlers aged three months and older, was sold across Canada from June 2025 until January 2026, with approximately 15,363 units sold during that period.

According to the company’s website, testing conducted by Health Canada identified the presence of two bacteria: Fictibacillus Arsenius and Metabacillus Idriensis. While these bacteria typically do not pose a risk to healthy individuals, they can affect children with weakened immune systems. If the teether is punctured and the liquid is ingested, it may lead to symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Parents who possess the affected teething ring are urged to stop using it immediately. They can contact EI Brand Management Inc. for a free replacement by visiting their website. The company emphasizes that under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, it is illegal to redistribute, sell, or give away recalled products.

The recalled teething rings can be identified by the following details: item number 530455, UPC 067988 53045 5, and embossed lot number ED04Z, which can be found on the back of the packaging and the teething ring itself.

As of January 21, 2026, there have been no reported injuries or incidents associated with the product in Canada. For further information, consumers can visit Canada’s recalls and safety alerts website.

This recall follows other recent safety concerns, including the recall of the INFANS baby stroller due to a choking hazard, highlighting the ongoing attention to product safety in the market.
