Kingston Police Arrest Driver for Impaired Operation After K9 Track

On December 31, 2025, Kingston Police arrested a 47-year-old man for impaired driving following a K9 track that led officers to him approximately one kilometer from a crash site. The incident began around 05:10 when police responded to a report of an individual in distress near Front Road, close to the entrance of Lemoine’s Point.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a heavily damaged vehicle at the location, prompting them to initiate a welfare check. The situation escalated when a K9 unit was deployed to track the driver believed to have fled the scene. The K9 handler, alongside members of the Patrol Division, successfully located the individual who was suspected of operating the damaged vehicle.

The Kingston resident was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and for driving while prohibited. Following his arrest, he was taken to Kingston Police headquarters, where he refused to provide a breath sample for analysis. As a result, he faces multiple charges, including operation while prohibited, impaired operation, and failure to provide a breath sample.

The individual is currently in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing. The swift response from Kingston Police and the effective use of the K9 unit were pivotal in addressing the situation and ensuring public safety.
