Engage in Science: Free Hands-On Expo at Tillicum Centre
A free, interactive science expo will take place at the Tillicum Centre in Saanich on January 31, 2024. Organized by the non-profit group Passport to Science, the event aims to make science engaging and accessible to the community. The expo will feature two timed sessions: the first runs from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a second session from noon to 2 p.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of hands-on exhibits designed to ignite curiosity among learners of all ages. Attendees can expect to meet dinosaurs, explore robots, study insects, and partake in experiments led by various science organizations from the region. This initiative highlights Passport to Science’s commitment to breaking down financial barriers and promoting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education.
In addition to the interactive exhibits, the science expo will serve as a pre-order event for the complimentary 2026 Passports to Science. This program offers guided explorations of partner STEAM organizations, with pick-up scheduled for a follow-up event during the March school break.
Admission to the expo is free, but reservations are required to manage attendance and ensure a positive experience for all participants. For further details and to register for the event, interested individuals can visit www.eventbrite.ca.
This initiative not only fosters a love for science but also strengthens community ties through shared educational experiences. The hands-on nature of the expo is designed to engage families and individuals, making science both fun and accessible for everyone.
