Coquitlam Crash Injures Pedestrian, Multiple Roads Closed

A pedestrian has sustained serious injuries following a collision in Coquitlam, leading to significant road closures. The incident occurred on March 26, 2024, at approximately 07:45 local time in the 3300 block of David Avenue. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Coquitlam, the injured pedestrian was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities. The Coquitlam RCMP Investigative Support Team, alongside the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Traffic Disruptions and Call for Witnesses

In light of the ongoing investigation, several traffic disruptions have been reported. The eastbound lanes of David Avenue and the southbound lanes of Coast Meridian Road are closed to facilitate the investigation. At this time, there is no estimated timeline for when these roads will reopen. The Coquitlam RCMP is urging the public to avoid the area to ensure the safety of all involved in the investigation.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity during the time of the incident. Those with dash cam footage or who witnessed the collision are encouraged to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, referencing file number 2026-2713.

Due to the active nature of the investigation, the RCMP has stated that further details will not be released at this time. The community is reminded of the importance of safety and caution while driving, particularly in areas where pedestrians are present.
