Toronto is experiencing a temporary break from the summer heat this week, with cooler temperatures expected before the return of humidity and warmth on Saturday. According to Bill Coulter, a meteorologist with CP24, a refreshing breeze from the northeast is bringing in dry and cool air from Northeastern Ontario and western Quebec, replacing the recent hot and humid conditions that had prevailed.

The forecast from Environment Canada indicates a high of 23°C on Monday, accompanied by a low of 15°C. This temperature is notably below the average high of 25.5°C for August 18, marking it as an unusually cool summer day.

Weather Predictions for the Coming Days

Looking ahead, Tuesday is expected to see a slight increase in temperature, reaching a high of 25°C with a low of 20°C. There is a possibility of showers later in the day, which could extend into Wednesday. Environment Canada forecasts a 40 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, with lingering morning showers yielding to afternoon sunshine. The temperature is likely to peak at 24°C, with a low of 18°C.

As the week progresses, Thursday will bring a shift back towards warmer temperatures, with a predicted high of 26°C and a low of 15°C. Coulter anticipates “sunny skies with limited humidity” for the day. Following this trend, Friday will likely feature light winds and “bright sunshine,” with a high of 28°C and a low of 17°C.

Return of Humidity and Heat

Saturday is forecasted to mark a return to significantly warmer conditions, with temperatures expected to soar to 28°C. However, it will feel more like 33°C due to humidity. There is a 30 percent chance of evening showers, with a low of 14°C anticipated.

The heat wave is predicted to taper off by Sunday, when a high of 22°C is expected, along with a 30 percent chance of rain. Coulter noted the potential for “isolated showers and gusty wind” throughout the day.

As Toronto navigates these fluctuations in weather, residents can enjoy a brief respite from the heat before the warmth returns, reminding everyone that summer is not over yet.
