The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is currently experiencing a significant outage of its primary inspection kiosks, leading to delays at several major airports across the country. The agency announced the issue in a social media update on September 29, 2025, stating that they are actively working to resolve the problem.

Passengers arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport reported extended waits, with one customer on a WestJet flight stating they were left on the tarmac for over an hour following their landing. WestJet confirmed that the customs process at Toronto Pearson was operating at full capacity due to the CBSA’s system failure, which prompted the airport to halt deplaning until sufficient space for customs processing became available.

Toronto Pearson has cautioned travelers to expect longer-than-usual wait times at customs, particularly at Terminals 1 and 3, as the service interruption continues. The delays have not been limited to Toronto; both Montreal Trudeau International Airport and Calgary International Airport have also reported similar disruptions.

Minister of Transport Steven MacKinnon stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and advised travelers to check their flight statuses on their airline’s website prior to arriving at the airport. He emphasized the importance of keeping passengers informed during this ongoing challenge.

As the CBSA works to rectify the kiosk outage, the agency’s social media platforms will continue to provide updates and guidance for affected travelers. The impact of this service disruption highlights the crucial role that technology plays in the efficiency of airport operations and the overall travel experience.

Passengers are encouraged to remain patient as the situation unfolds and to prepare for potential delays in customs processing at the impacted airports. The CBSA has not provided a timeline for when the kiosks will be fully operational again, but they are committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible.
