Brampton Teen Charged After Police Seize Loaded Handgun

An 18-year-old man from Brampton faces multiple firearm charges following a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun. On February 27, 2024, officers from the Peel Regional Police were on patrol in the Kennedy Road and Clarence Road area when they observed a vehicle speeding and making unsafe lane changes.

The officers initiated a stop for what they described as careless driving. During the encounter, police conducted a search of the driver under the Cannabis Control Act. Investigators reported that they discovered a loaded Glock 17 handgun along with a magazine containing rounds of ammunition.

As a result of this incident, the driver, identified as Malachi King-Favours, has been charged with several firearm-related offenses. Following the arrest, he was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to reach out to investigators.
