Brady Oliveira Signs Three-Year Extension with Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Brady Oliveira, the standout running back for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, has officially signed a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2028 season. This announcement was made on Monday, confirming Oliveira’s commitment to his hometown team as he was set to enter free agency in February.
Oliveira’s Impact on the Team
The 28-year-old athlete expressed his determination to contribute to a championship-winning team during his end-of-season press conference in November. “I know what I can bring and I know I’m a calibre of player that can help a team win a championship, so I want to put myself in the best situation to win a championship,” Oliveira stated. “This is why I play this game. I don’t play it for none of the awards or any of that stuff, I play it to win a Grey Cup.”
Oliveira’s performance in the 2024 Canadian Football League (CFL) season solidified his reputation as a top-tier player. He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player and has received the title of Most Outstanding Canadian twice, in both 2023 and 2024. Last season, he rushed for 1,163 yards and scored three touchdowns, while also achieving career highs with 61 receptions for 546 yards.
Franchise Legacy and Future Plans
With a total of 5,480 career rushing yards, Oliveira ranks sixth in franchise history. He joined the Blue Bombers after being selected in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft from the University of North Dakota. As part of his commitment to the team, Oliveira will address the media regarding his new contract on Tuesday.
His extension follows similar moves by the Bombers, who have also secured contracts for receiver Ontaria Wilson and defensive tackle Cameron Lawson this off-season. These developments signal the team’s effort to build a competitive roster aimed at securing a championship in the coming years.
As Oliveira continues to develop his career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how his contributions may lead the team toward their ultimate goal—a Grey Cup victory.
