Volatus Aerospace Secures CAD $9M Defence Contract from NATO Partner
Volatus Aerospace Inc. has been awarded a defence contract worth up to CAD $9 million to provide a NATO partner with a next-generation training system designed for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations. This contract represents a significant milestone for the company, underscoring its role as a leader in uncrewed aerial and defence technology solutions.
Contract Details and Timeline
The contract spans two years, beginning with an initial delivery tranche of approximately $4.5 million scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. A second tranche may be activated at the customer’s discretion until the end of 2027. The identity of the end-user and specific system configurations are confidential under the agreement’s terms.
This contract addresses an urgent need from a NATO ally, aiming to enhance foundational unmanned aviation skills among its defence personnel. According to Glen Lynch, CEO of Volatus Aerospace, “Uncrewed ISR capability is now fundamental to modern defence readiness. This contract demonstrates the trust international partners are placing in Canadian innovation.”
Strategic Implications for Volatus
The award highlights Volatus’ expanding role as a provider of secure, commercially derived unmanned systems, training, and operational support for defence organizations worldwide. Lynch emphasized that the contract aligns with the company’s strategy to position Volatus as a key contributor to Canada’s defence industrial base and the broader NATO ecosystem.
“As Canada deepens its commitment to NATO and increases its emphasis on uncrewed and remotely operated systems, Volatus is proud to deliver Canadian capability that contributes directly to allied readiness,” Lynch added.
This contract not only reinforces Volatus’ ongoing commitment to supporting Canada’s defence and security priorities but also marks a significant step in the company’s growth within the defence sector.
