Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z TriFold with 10-Inch Display in Slim Design
Samsung has introduced the revolutionary Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that features a substantial 10-inch screen while maintaining a slim profile of just 12.9 mm when folded. Set to launch in Korea on December 12, 2025, the TriFold aims to blend the functionality of a tablet with the portability of a smartphone.
The new device is designed to address the common limitations of existing foldable phones, which often compromise usability with a noticeable crease and awkward aspect ratio. The Galaxy Z TriFold sets itself apart by employing a unique double-folding mechanism, allowing it to open fully into a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. When closed, the device resembles the thickness of an average smartphone, weighing in at 309 grams.
Innovative Design and Advanced Features
Samsung has emphasized a sleek and lightweight construction, utilizing Advanced Armor Aluminum for the frame, titanium for the hinge housing, and a ceramic-glass reinforced polymer for the back panel. This combination not only enhances durability but also contributes to the overall aesthetic of the device, which appears as three glass panels seamlessly joined together.
The hinge system incorporates two differently sized Armor FlexHinges, designed to minimize gaps between the display panels. This system allows for a smooth transition when folding and unfolding the device, while also ensuring that the 10-inch QXGA+ main screen can accommodate multiple applications side by side. Users can run three apps concurrently without feeling cramped, enhancing productivity for tasks such as design work or audio editing.
Samsung has also integrated features tailored for multitasking. The standalone Samsung DeX transforms the TriFold into a miniature desktop environment, supporting up to four virtual workspaces. Users can connect to an external monitor in Extended Mode, allowing for seamless window management between screens.
Specifications and Market Launch
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, paired with 16 GB of RAM and offering storage options of up to 1 TB. The device boasts an impressive 200 MP main camera with a 3x telephoto lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, designed to cater to a range of photographic needs.
The battery capacity stands at 5,600 mAh, strategically distributed across the device panels for balanced weight. Charging capabilities include 45 W wired and 15 W wireless options, complete with reverse wireless charging support.
Despite its advanced features, the Galaxy Z TriFold does come with notable considerations. At 309 grams, the device may feel bulky for those accustomed to lightweight smartphones. Additionally, Samsung has not mentioned support for the S Pen, which could limit its appeal to artists and designers looking to utilize the expansive screen for creative purposes.
While the device boasts an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, long-term durability remains a significant factor to consider, given the complexities of its dual-hinge design. Nonetheless, for users seeking a high-performance device that merges the capabilities of a tablet and smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold marks a bold step toward the future of mobile technology.
With its launch set for Korea in December, other markets, including China, Singapore, the UAE, and the United States, are expected to follow suit. The Galaxy Z TriFold represents Samsung’s ambitious vision for mobile devices, merging advanced technology with practical applications in a compact form.
