Samsung Launches Budget-Friendly Galaxy A17 5G and Tab A11+
Samsung has unveiled two new budget-friendly devices ahead of CES 2026: the Galaxy A17 5G smartphone and the Galaxy Tab A11+ tablet. Set to launch in the US market, these devices offer a combination of premium features at accessible price points, reaffirming Samsung’s commitment to delivering quality technology to a broad audience.
Galaxy A17 5G: Affordable Power at $199.99
The Galaxy A17 5G succeeds the popular A16 model and is priced at an attractive $199.99. One of its most notable features is the 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, which boasts a 90Hz refresh rate. This is a significant advantage in the sub-$200 segment, where AMOLED screens are often a rarity. The display quality is expected to enhance user experience, providing vibrant visuals compared to typical LCD alternatives.
Powered by the Exynos 1330 processor, the Galaxy A17 5G is designed for efficiency. While it may not be the fastest chip on the market, it is suitable for everyday tasks and light gaming. The device is equipped with a robust 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, claiming to reach 50% battery capacity in just 30 minutes. A standout feature of this device is Samsung’s commitment to software support, offering six years of security updates and six generations of operating system upgrades, ensuring longevity and security well into the 2030s.
Galaxy A17 Quick Specs:
- Display: 6.7” FHD+ Super AMOLED (90Hz)
- Cameras: 50MP Main (OIS), 5MP Ultrawide, 2MP Macro, 13MP Selfie
- Durability: IP54 water/dust resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus
- Price: Starts at $199.99 (Available January 7, 2026)
Galaxy Tab A11+: A Family-Friendly Tablet for $249.99
Launching alongside the smartphone, the Galaxy Tab A11+ is priced at $249.99 and positions itself as an ideal device for families and students. It features an 11-inch LCD display, also with a 90Hz refresh rate, enhancing the smoothness of interactions compared to many budget tablets that lack this feature. Additionally, the tablet includes quad speakers equipped with Dolby Atmos, enhancing the audio experience for media consumption.
Notably, Samsung has incorporated productivity features into this entry-level tablet. It supports Samsung DeX (Standalone Edition), allowing users to enjoy a desktop-like interface for multitasking. The addition of Circle to Search integrates Google’s latest visual search AI, marking a first for the Tab A series.
Galaxy Tab A11+ Quick Specs:
- Display: 11-inch LCD (90Hz)
- Audio: Quad Speakers with Dolby Atmos + 3.5mm Headphone Jack
- Storage: Up to 8GB RAM / 256GB Storage (expandable via microSD)
- Price: Starts at $249.99 (Available January 8, 2026)
These new devices exemplify Samsung’s strategy to cater to the needs of everyday consumers. While high-end devices often steal the spotlight, models like the Galaxy A17 5G are the backbone of the smartphone market, appealing to millions who seek reliable performance without breaking the bank. The introduction of features such as Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for the camera and durable materials like Gorilla Glass Victus at this price point is a significant benefit for consumers.
Both the Galaxy A17 5G and Galaxy Tab A11+ will be available nationwide, with the smartphone launching on January 7, 2026, followed by the tablet on January 8, 2026. These devices are poised to attract attention from budget-conscious buyers looking for solid performance and advanced features.
