Ontario Council Warns Consumers Against Windsor Car Dealer
The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) has issued a warning to residents of the Windsor-Essex area regarding Naserati Auto, a car dealership located on Drouillard Road in Windsor. OMVIC has confirmed that Naserati Auto and its owner are not registered to sell vehicles in Ontario, which is a legal requirement in the province.
This warning comes as the owner faces six charges under both the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and the Consumer Protection Act. In addition to these charges, there are seven other incidents currently under investigation, primarily concerning allegations of odometer rollbacks and illegal vehicle sales. OMVIC has expressed concerns that many more consumers may have been affected by these practices and is urging anyone who has purchased a vehicle from Naserati Auto to come forward.
Consumers who engage with unregistered sellers risk losing thousands of dollars and lack the protection and recourse offered under Ontario legislation. The potential for financial loss emphasizes the importance of verifying a dealership’s registration before making a purchase.
On contacting Naserati Auto, a representative from CTV News found that the phone call went to voicemail, which was reportedly full. This lack of communication raises further concerns about the dealership’s operations.
OMVIC’s intervention aims to protect consumers from fraudulent practices and to ensure that vehicle sales in Ontario are conducted by registered dealers who comply with the necessary legal standards. The organization encourages consumers to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the proper authorities.
