OnePlus Launches Early Android 16 Beta for Select Devices in India

OnePlus has initiated the rollout of its Android 16 update in the form of a beta version, ahead of the official announcement scheduled for October 16, 2023. This early release applies specifically to users in India, where the company has opened the OxygenOS 16 Open Beta program for select device owners.
The beta update is currently available for the OnePlus 13 series, OnePlus 12 series, and the OnePlus Open. Users of the OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, and OnePlus 12R are also included in this rollout. To participate, interested users must apply for a spot in the program, which has surprised many given that the official announcement of OxygenOS 16 has yet to take place.
Details of the Update and Features
While the full features of OxygenOS 16 remain largely undisclosed, OnePlus has teased its performance with the tagline “So Fast. So Smooth.” The company has confirmed that the operating system will integrate with Google Gemini, enhancing the functionality of the OnePlus Mind Space feature. However, details about additional features or improvements are sparse, and users may have to wait until the formal announcement to learn more.
As awareness grows around this beta release, it is anticipated that some users will share insights and experiences with the software, potentially providing a glimpse into its capabilities before October 16 arrives.
In the broader context, OnePlus is also preparing for the launch of the OnePlus 15, which is expected to debut in China later this month, followed by a global rollout in mid-November. This timing may further influence the anticipation surrounding the upcoming OxygenOS 16 update.
As the technology landscape continues to evolve, OnePlus is positioning itself to remain competitive by offering early access to its latest software. Users in India now have the opportunity to experience the next iteration of Android ahead of the official global launch, setting the stage for enhanced user interactions and feedback.
