Native Union Revives Nostalgia with Relaunch of POP Phone

Native Union has reintroduced its retro-inspired POP Phone, appealing to those who long for the nostalgic charm of traditional handsets. This new version connects directly to any USB-C enabled device, transforming smartphones, tablets, and laptops into hands-free speakerphones without the need for charging or Bluetooth pairing. Users can simply plug in and engage in conversations while enjoying a familiar design reminiscent of phones from the late 20th century.
The POP Phone features a vintage-style spiral cord, designed to evoke memories of the 1980s and 1990s. Instead of attaching to a landline, the cord culminates in a 3.5 mm headphone and microphone combo plug. This allows users to easily connect it to their devices. The handset includes pick-up and hang-up buttons, enhancing user convenience, although slamming the handset down is not advised due to the risk of damaging the connected device.
Functional Features Meet Retro Aesthetics
Optimized for popular video-call platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and FaceTime, the POP Phone includes a noise-reduction system that minimizes background sounds, making it suitable for use in various environments. With a luxurious textured surface, the device comes in an array of colors, including alarm red, pine, black, sandstone, lemon, candy, azure, and slate green, catering to diverse style preferences.
Besides its aesthetic appeal, using a handset like the POP Phone can potentially reduce the amount of radiation absorbed by the user’s head, as it keeps the phone at a distance. This feature, combined with its ability to free up the user’s hands for multitasking, positions the POP Phone as a functional accessory that blends style and practicality.
The POP Phone is universally compatible with devices featuring USB-C ports, including the iPhone 15 and subsequent models, though it is not compatible with Lightning ports. This broad compatibility enhances its appeal among a wide range of users.
In a world dominated by sleek smartphones, the relaunch of the POP Phone serves as a reminder of the past while meeting contemporary communication needs. The combination of its charming retro design and modern functionality makes it an attractive option for those looking to inject a bit of nostalgia into their tech experience.
