Marvel Studios has welcomed the new year by releasing a trailer for its upcoming miniseries, Wonder Man, set to premiere on January 27, 2026, on Disney+. The eight-episode series is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six and features a creative team that includes Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Andrew Guest, who served as a writer on Hawkeye and is the showrunner for this project.

The series focuses on Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who portrays Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man. Williams is depicted as an actor and stunt performer endowed with superpowers. In a unique twist, he auditions for a lead role in a fictional superhero television series, a reboot of an earlier iteration of Wonder Man. The cast also includes notable names such as Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother, Eric, aka Grim Reaper, and Ed Harris as Simon’s agent, Neal Saroyan.

In a notable return, Ben Kingsley reprises his role as Trevor Slattery, a character first introduced in Iron Man 3. Slattery, who previously posed as a terrorist leader, was later seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, where he assisted Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu, on a quest to the mystical village of Ta Lo.

Trailer Highlights and Plot Overview

A one-minute teaser was first released before New York Comic Con last fall, showcasing the series’ meta-humor. The full trailer that followed during the event elaborated on the premise, demonstrating Simon’s preparation for his dream role. In the latest trailer, Simon faces a dilemma as he is asked to sign a statement declaring he does not possess superpowers, despite the fact that he does. The stress of the audition amplifies his abilities, leading to explosive consequences that attract the attention of the Department of Damage Control, which categorizes him as an “extraordinary threat.”

The trailer cleverly repackages footage from earlier teasers while introducing fresh elements that highlight the comedic undertones of the series. With an engaging storyline and a diverse cast, Wonder Man is poised to capture the interest of fans across the globe.

As Marvel continues to expand its universe, the anticipation for Wonder Man builds, promising a blend of action, humor, and a unique perspective on the superhero genre.
