Ironwood Studios Unveils Major DLC for Pacific Drive This Year
Ironwood Studios, in collaboration with its publishing partner Kepler Interactive, has announced an exciting new expansion for the popular driving survival game, Pacific Drive. Titled Whispers in the Woods, this premium downloadable content (DLC) is set to launch later this year for PC and PlayStation 5. The expansion promises to immerse players in an eerie narrative that explores themes of obsession, rituals, and the unknown within the game’s unique setting.
The storyline of Whispers in the Woods introduces players to a dedicated group fixated on the anomalies of the Olympic Exclusion Zone. Accessible after the initial hours of gameplay in Pacific Drive, the expansion takes players into a shadowy forest adorned with strange effigies and symbols. Within this unsettling environment, players will encounter new mysteries, confront hidden dangers, and uncover unique Artifacts. These Artifacts introduce unpredictable effects, enhancing the gameplay experience.
New Gameplay Features and Experience
Whispers in the Woods will expand the gameplay with new junction types, anomalies, and behaviors that significantly reshape exploration within the Zone. As players delve deeper into the forest, they will interact with the cult-like group’s altars and harness the unsettling power of their Artifacts. Additionally, players can customize their station wagons with new parts sourced from this ritual-infused landscape.
Since its launch in February 2024, Pacific Drive has achieved a remarkable milestone, selling over one million units worldwide across PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. Ironwood Studios has consistently supported the game with substantial free updates, including the notable April 2024 Endless Expeditions update, which introduced limitless runs into the Zone along with new progression features. The release of Whispers in the Woods continues this momentum, providing a story expansion that is nearly one-third the size of the original game, ensuring hours of engaging content for both new players and seasoned veterans.
Whispers in the Woods is scheduled to launch later this year, available on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Players can look forward to an enriched experience that deepens the narrative and gameplay of Pacific Drive, further establishing its place in the survival adventure genre.
