Insta360 Launches X4 Air: Affordable 8K 360 Camera at $399
Insta360 has introduced the new X4 Air, a compact 360-degree camera designed to make high-quality 8K video recording more accessible to creators on a budget. Priced at $399, the X4 Air offers a cost-effective alternative to the more expensive X4 and X5 models, which launched at over $500 and $550, respectively.
Key Features of the Insta360 X4 Air
The X4 Air captures stunning 8K 360-degree video at 30 frames per second (fps) and 4K at 50 fps, thanks to its dual 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensors. These sensors ensure vibrant color reproduction, making the camera suitable for both video and photography. Users can take photos at a maximum resolution of 29MP, which, while lower than Insta360’s flagship models, is adequate for many creators.
Despite its lower price, the X4 Air retains several standout features, including FlowState stabilization, 360-degree horizon lock, and the Invisible Selfie Stick effect. The camera is waterproof up to 15 meters without requiring additional housing. Weighing just 165 grams and measuring 46 x 113.8 x 37 mm, it is 30 grams lighter than its predecessors, making it highly portable.
The built-in 2,010mAh battery supports 90 minutes of recording time at 8K, fully charging in just 57 minutes. Additionally, the X4 Air features user-replaceable lenses, allowing for easy swaps if lenses become scratched. Other convenient functionalities include gesture control, voice activation, and a twist-to-record feature, enhancing usability for solo vloggers.
Comparison with Other Insta360 Models
Positioned below the X4 and X5 in Insta360’s lineup, the X4 Air sacrifices some photo resolution and slow-motion capabilities but maintains essential features like stability and immersive shooting. Earlier this year, the Insta360 GO Ultra was released at $449, offering a different wearable design that caters to creators seeking innovative formats. Competing products, such as the DJI Osmo Nano, also aim to attract budget-conscious users with similar pricing.
The X4 Air is particularly appealing to casual users interested in experimenting with 360-degree content or creators upgrading from basic smartphone cameras. Available now on the official Insta360 website, Amazon, and select global retailers, the camera comes with a complimentary one-year subscription to Insta360+.
With its competitive pricing and robust features, the Insta360 X4 Air presents an exciting opportunity for creators looking to explore the world of 360-degree video without breaking the bank.
