Innovative Home Theater System Combines Mini Fridge and Sound
A new home theater system called Come Together aims to enhance the viewing experience by integrating a mini fridge, lighting, and spatial sound features into one cohesive unit. Designed by Woojin Jang, this innovative three-part system includes the Tower, Base, and Station, offering a fresh approach to home entertainment rather than simply upgrading a television.
The Tower is a sleek black cylinder that serves multiple functions. When not in use, it maintains a low profile but can rise to reveal a mini fridge capable of holding up to five cans. It also features a tray for snacks, while adaptive mood lighting underneath syncs with on-screen content. An additional benefit is a Qi2 wireless charging pad on top, ensuring devices remain charged during long movie marathons.
The Base moves beyond traditional soundbars by incorporating a circular design with drivers positioned around its edge. Equipped with a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor, it maps the room to optimize audio placement. This innovative feature allows the Base to roll itself to the best position for sound, borrowing technology from robotic vacuum cleaners, but focusing on audio quality instead of cleaning.
Once the viewing session concludes, all components return to the Station, a low-profile dock where they recharge and cool the mini fridge. The Station features a simple display showing time and fridge temperature, ensuring that the setup feels integrated rather than a collection of disparate devices.
The aesthetic of Come Together is characterized by a cylindrical, black-glass design, resembling high-end audio equipment rather than robotic gadgets. This choice helps maintain the television as the focal point in the room while the system discreetly supports the overall viewing experience.
By incorporating robotics seamlessly into home entertainment, Come Together redefines immersion. The combination of drinks, lighting, and sound creates a coordinated system that addresses common interruptions during movie nights. For those tired of pausing a film to grab a drink, this innovative approach offers a compelling vision for the future of home theater.
