Huawei has officially announced the launch date for its highly anticipated Mate 80 series. Scheduled for November 25, 2025, this new lineup is poised to succeed the Mate 70 series, which garnered significant attention last year.

The upcoming Mate 80 series is expected to include four distinct models: the base Mate 80, the Mate 80 Pro, the Mate 80 Pro Max, and the premium Mate 80 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN. While detailed specifications remain unconfirmed, industry leaks suggest all four devices will be powered by the Kirin 9030 chipset. Variations among the models will include differences in RAM, storage, camera capabilities, and display sizes.

Specifications and Features of the Mate 80 Series

The base Mate 80 model will feature options starting with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with upgrades available up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro models will support 66W wired charging, with the Pro variant beginning with 16GB of RAM and offering storage options up to 1TB.

The Mate 80 Pro Max will mirror these specifications, while the Mate 80 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN will stand out with a starting point of 20GB of RAM and the same 1TB storage option. In terms of design, the Mate 80, Pro, and Pro Max will share a modern aesthetic, characterized by flat edges and a large circular camera cutout, along with a secondary ring that may serve as a design element or a feature for Qi2 support.

In contrast, the Mate 80 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN will adopt a more angular shape, featuring a distinctive octagonal camera cutout and a quad-camera setup that includes dual periscope telephoto lenses. This model is also rumored to support 100W wired charging.

Operating System and Future Prospects

While official details on the operating system have yet to be released, it is anticipated that the entire Mate 80 lineup will run on Huawei’s latest HarmonyOS NEXT. This version marks a significant shift as it moves away from Android, eliminating previous methods that allowed users to access the Google Play Store. Nonetheless, users may still find workarounds for accessing essential Android applications on their Huawei devices.

As the launch date approaches, excitement builds around how Huawei will position the Mate 80 series in a competitive smartphone market. The combination of upgraded hardware, innovative design, and a new operating system could redefine user expectations and set new standards within the industry.
