Honor Launches Gaming Phones with Record 10,000mAh Battery
Honor has introduced two new gaming smartphones, the Honor Win and Honor Win RT, aiming to eliminate “low battery anxiety” for users. Launched in China, these devices feature a groundbreaking 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which sets a new standard for battery life in flagship mobile devices. Notably, Honor has managed to incorporate this substantial capacity into a slim profile of just 8.3mm in thickness, thanks to advancements in third-generation silicon-carbon technology.
Performance and Cooling Innovations
Designed specifically for gaming enthusiasts, the Honor Win is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, while the Win RT is equipped with the slightly less powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite. To address potential overheating during intense gaming sessions, Honor has included an innovative active cooling fan system, named “Dongfeng Turbo Cooling.” This system can reach up to 25,000 RPM in a dedicated “Rage Mode,” significantly reducing core temperatures by approximately 7°C. As a result, users can enjoy sustained performance without worrying about thermal throttling.
Both models offer a variety of configurations, including up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and an impressive 1TB of internal storage, catering to gamers who require extensive space for apps and games.
Visual and Camera Features
The visual experience on the Honor Win series is equally remarkable. Both devices boast a 6.83-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. While many high-end gaming smartphones feature refresh rates of 144Hz or 165Hz, the Honor Win raises the bar with a refresh rate of 185Hz.
To enhance user comfort during nighttime gaming, the display incorporates 5,920Hz PWM dimming technology, which minimizes flicker at lower brightness levels. Additionally, the screen achieves a peak brightness of 6,000 nits, ensuring clarity even under direct sunlight.
On the camera front, the Honor Win series includes a versatile setup. Both models feature a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies. The standard Honor Win is further equipped with a 50MP telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. In contrast, the Win RT simplifies its camera system with a dual-camera setup, omitting the telephoto lens.
Durability and Charging Capabilities
Durability is another strong point for the Honor Win series, which carries a triple-protection rating of IP68, IP69, and IP69K. This means the devices are not only water-resistant but can withstand high-pressure, hot water jets, a rarity for mainstream gaming smartphones.
Charging these powerhouse devices is also efficient, with both models featuring 100W wired charging capabilities, drastically reducing downtime. The standard Honor Win model additionally supports 80W wireless charging, positioning it among the fastest options available.
Currently, the Honor Win series is available in China, with pricing set as follows: the Honor Win RT starts at CNY 2,699 (approximately $385), while the Honor Win begins at CNY 3,999 (approximately $570) for the base model and can go up to CNY 5,299 (approximately $755) for the version with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Both models are offered in Black, White, and Blue.
While a global release has not yet been announced, the combination of a record-breaking battery and top-tier gaming specifications makes the Honor Win series a product to watch in the evolving smartphone market.
