Hisense Unveils L9Q Laser TV with Five Revolutionary Features
Hisense has launched its innovative L9Q Laser TV, showcasing a series of game-changing features that position it as a significant advancement in home entertainment technology. Unveiled at CES 2025, this new projector has garnered multiple awards, including the prestigious Yanko Design Best of CES 2025 recognition. The excitement surrounding the device is backed by its impressive capabilities, which promise to redefine the viewing experience in real-world settings.
Unmatched Brightness for Daytime Viewing
One of the standout features of the L9Q is its remarkable brightness, boasting an output of 5,000 lumens. This level of brightness allows for exceptional viewing even in well-lit environments, eliminating the need for users to dim the lights or settle for washed-out images. During hands-on demonstrations at CES 2025, the projector’s clarity and vibrancy were immediately apparent, making it comparable to traditional televisions.
The L9Q’s performance is further enhanced by Hisense’s improved Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screen, which has a gain of 2.9. Together, these features deliver peak brightness levels of up to 1,500 nits, surpassing many OLED TVs currently on the market. In contrast, the previous model, Epson’s LS800, maxes out at 4,000 lumens, marking a significant leap in brightness capability with the L9Q.
Advanced Color Accuracy with TriChroma Technology
Hisense has introduced its TriChroma laser technology in the L9Q, which significantly improves color accuracy. This triple-laser system covers 110% of the BT.2020 color space, a notable increase from the 107% coverage of the L9G model. This enhancement ensures that colors are richer and more accurate, aligning closely with the filmmakers’ original intentions.
Unlike older projector technologies that often struggle with color saturation at higher brightness levels, the L9Q utilizes dedicated red, green, and blue lasers. This independent operation maintains color purity while achieving an impressive 5,000:1 static contrast ratio. Reviewers have noted that this results in colors that appear significantly more vibrant compared to earlier models, effectively supporting HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and IMAX Enhanced content without compromising on brightness.
Flexibility with Ultra-Short-Throw Design
The L9Q’s ultra-short-throw design transforms how projection technology fits into modern living spaces. With a throw ratio of 0.18:1, it can produce a massive 200-inch image from just 21 inches away, or an 80-inch image from merely 2 inches away from the wall. This innovative design is complemented by features such as Auto Screen Alignment and Manual Keystone Correction, allowing for seamless placement and adjustment.
This flexibility minimizes common issues associated with traditional projectors, such as shadow interference and complicated installation processes. Families can enjoy movie nights without the hassle of managing cables or accommodating fixed focal lengths. The L9Q is available in screen sizes ranging from 100 inches to 150 inches, making it adaptable to various living environments.
Integrated Audio by Devialet
The L9Q also redefines home audio experience by integrating a comprehensive 6.2.2-channel surround sound system, a first for a laser TV. Drawing on the acoustical design of Roman amphitheaters, the projector features speakers tilted at 15 degrees, enhancing sound delivery without the need for additional external speakers.
With Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X technologies, the audio experience is immersive, bringing cinema-quality sound directly from the device. The collaboration with Devialet, known for its high-fidelity audio equipment, ensures that the integrated system delivers exceptional clarity and depth, creating an environment that feels as engaging as a theater.
Seamless Smart Features for Modern Living
Running on Google TV, the L9Q offers access to over 800 free channels and more than 10,000 apps, including major streaming services. Its enhanced connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E, HDMI 2.1, and eARC support ensures a stable streaming experience while accommodating a variety of audio and gaming setups.
The projector’s compatibility with voice control through Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit further enhances user interaction, making it a versatile component of a smart home ecosystem. The integration allows for coordinated control of lighting and audio systems, creating a streamlined entertainment experience.
For gamers, the L9Q delivers competitive performance with a 12-millisecond input lag at 2K/120Hz and refresh rates up to 240Hz at lower resolutions, making it an appealing choice for serious gaming enthusiasts.
The Hisense L9Q Laser TV is set to ship in August 2025, following a much-anticipated reveal. Priced at $5,999, it offers a luxurious home cinema experience without the need for a dedicated theater room. Early buyers in the U.S. can take advantage of limited-time pre-sale offers, including either a free HT Saturn sound system or a complimentary ALR screen of up to 120 inches.
With its combination of advanced technology, design, and usability, the L9Q positions itself as a transformative addition to home entertainment, making high-quality projection accessible to a broader audience.
