Genesis Reveals G90 Wingback Concept at Magma Event in France
Genesis has unveiled the highly anticipated G90 Wingback concept, a performance-oriented wagon version of its flagship G90 sedan, during the Magma launch event at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. This surprise reveal has captivated automotive enthusiasts and wagon aficionados alike, leaving many eager for more details on this innovative model.
Design Highlights and Performance Potential
The G90 Wingback concept effectively combines the standard G90 platform with a reimagined body, featuring a striking roofline that extends into a ducktail spoiler and prominent roof fins. Retaining the sedan’s impressive length of nearly 5.3 metres, the concept replaces the traditional trunk with an elegant design that emphasizes aerodynamics and style. The vehicle’s aesthetic is further enhanced by flared fenders that are approximately two inches wider than those of the standard G90, as well as a rear diffuser, quad exhaust outlets, and full-width LED taillights.
At the front, the G90 Wingback displays a slimmer grille and aggressive bumper intakes, complemented by vertical slots positioned between the upper and lower grilles. Side vents exit from the wider arches, accommodating larger alloy wheels fitted with performance tires. The design elements echo those seen in previous Genesis concepts, particularly the G90 Coupe and Convertible, which were showcased in April 2025.
Performance Specifications and Future Considerations
Details regarding the G90 Wingback’s performance remain limited, yet it is expected to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine. In its standard configuration, this engine produces 375 horsepower. A higher-output variant, which includes an electric supercharger and is standard in Canada, delivers an impressive 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The engine will pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, ensuring responsive handling and enhanced performance.
Features such as cloud-based multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering, which are standard on the production G90 sedan, are also anticipated for the Wingback. While Genesis has not disclosed specific performance figures, there is speculation that the V6 could potentially exceed 500 horsepower, especially if the model adopts the distinctive Magma color scheme.
Although Genesis has not made a formal commitment to producing the G90 Wingback, the fact that it is under consideration signifies a bold step for the brand. If brought to market, the Wingback could pose significant competition to established German luxury automakers, traditionally dominant in the premium wagon segment with models like the BMW M5 Touring, Audi RS 6 Avant, and Mercedes E-Class Wagon.
As the automotive community eagerly awaits further developments, the G90 Wingback concept stands as a testament to Genesis’ commitment to innovation and performance. With its stunning design and potential for remarkable power, the Wingback could redefine the expectations for luxury wagons in the market.
