General Tire Canada launched its new winter tire lineup, the Grabber Arctic X and AltiMAX Arctic X, during a product event titled “A Northbound Adventure” at ICAR Mirabel in Montreal. Held from February 2 to 6, 2026, the event invited distributors, retailers, and media to participate in hands-on testing across various winter driving scenarios.

Attendees engaged in a series of driving modules designed to showcase the tires’ capabilities in typical Canadian winter conditions. These modules included slalom courses, acceleration evaluations, and dedicated off-road tracks. Each activity highlighted the performance features of the Arctic X lineup, allowing participants to experience the traction and handling these tires provide on snow and ice.

Both the Grabber Arctic X, designed for light trucks and SUVs, and the AltiMAX Arctic X for passenger cars and crossovers incorporate a directional tread design and advanced cold-temperature compounds. They also boast a 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake certification, indicating superior performance in severe winter conditions, and are capable of being studded for enhanced grip.

Perry Fu, Pricing, Product & Marketing Intelligence Manager at Continental Tire Canada, emphasized the engineering behind the Arctic X lineup. “When we set out to develop the Arctic X lineup, our goal was to engineer a winter tire that delivers real, measurable confidence in the harshest Canadian conditions,” he stated. He noted that every element of the tires, from the advanced compounds to the improved stud-retention system, was designed to provide drivers with control and stability in extreme winter weather.

In addition to innovative tire design, attendees learned about the Shield+ Advantage Plan, which supports each tire with a 45-day satisfaction trial and comprehensive Road Hazard coverage. This provides drivers with additional assurance when navigating winter conditions.

The Arctic X lineup will be available for purchase starting March 1, 2026. General Tire aims to expand its presence in the winter tire market by offering products specifically tailored for Canadian drivers, focusing on innovation, durability, and safety.
