Anticipation builds for the release of Gears of War: E-Day, which is confirmed to launch in 2026. Following its absence from this year’s Game Awards, the official social media accounts for the franchise have reassured fans with a striking image featuring a skull against a backdrop of red and black, emphasizing the game is still on track.

The release is expected on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with indications that it may also be available on PlayStation 5. This marks a significant shift for the franchise, following the release of Gears of War: Reloaded, which was the first title to debut on a Sony console. Co-creator Cliff Bleszinski has voiced his support for this expansion beyond console exclusivity, highlighting a new direction for the series.

Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024, there have been few updates regarding E-Day since its unveiling. Notably, voice actors John DiMaggio, known for his role in Futurama, and Carlos Ferro will reprise their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dominic “Dom” Santiago, respectively.

Set 14 years prior to the events of the original Gears of War, the game follows Marcus and Dom as they navigate their early years within the Coalition of Ordered Governments. At this time, their home world, Sera, experiences a fragile peace that is soon disrupted by the emergence of the Locust Horde.
