DJI Set to Launch Osmo Nano Action Camera with Impressive Specs
DJI is gearing up to unveil its latest innovation, the Osmo Nano action camera, at the “Own the Moment” event scheduled for September 23, 2023. This compact camera is positioned as a strong competitor to the popular Insta360 GO 3S. Ahead of the official launch, a significant leak has revealed extensive details about the camera’s specifications and features.
The Osmo Nano is expected to showcase a compact design, enhanced by a dual-sided magnetic mount and a variety of accessories. Notably, this model will be waterproof up to 10 meters without requiring additional housing, making it particularly suitable for underwater photography.
According to a report by DRONEXL, the leaked specifications highlight that the Osmo Nano will be equipped with a new 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, offering a wide field of view (FOV) of 143 degrees. This advanced image sensor will enable shooting in 4K at 60 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second for slow-motion effects, along with achieving a dynamic range of up to 13.5 points.
Another key feature includes multiple stabilization modes, which aim to enhance the quality of video capture. The camera will support both Horizon Balancing and Rock Steady 3.0 stabilization, allowing users to record smooth footage even during dynamic activities. Additionally, the Osmo Nano will incorporate a super night mode that utilizes noise reduction algorithms to improve low-light image quality.
Users will also benefit from multi-microphone support, enabling the connection of up to two microphone transmitters directly to the camera. This feature allows for capturing audio from two different sources simultaneously, which is a significant advantage for content creators.
Innovative Vision Dock and Speedy Connectivity
The Osmo Nano will come with a multifunctional Vision Dock that features a built-in OLED HD touchscreen. This dock not only facilitates fast charging for both the camera and itself but also allows the camera to reach 80 percent battery capacity in just 20 minutes. When docked, the Osmo Nano can record up to 200 minutes of video at 1080p/24fps.
For connectivity, the camera will utilize high-speed contact points compatible with the USB 3.1 protocol. This innovation allows users to connect their devices to mobile phones or computers using a PD fast-charging cable, achieving transfer speeds of up to 600 Mbps. The camera will also support stereo recording, auto recording, nod/pat recording, and pre-recording, along with Wi-Fi 6.0 capabilities for fast data transfer.
Pricing and Availability
The Osmo Nano is set to launch globally next week, bundled with an array of accessories. According to the leaks, the package will include the Vision Dock, a magnetic hat clip, a magnetic lanyard, a protective case, a USB-C to USB-C PD cable, and a dual-direction magnetic ball-joint adapter mount.
DJI plans to offer the Osmo Nano in two storage options: 64GB and 128GB. The pricing is anticipated to be €369 (approximately $430) for the 64GB variant and €399 (around $470) for the 128GB version.
If these details hold true, the Osmo Nano is poised to provide stiff competition to the Insta360 GO 3S in the compact action camera market. Stay tuned for further updates following the official announcement on September 23rd.
