Fans of the beloved Canadian sitcom, Schitt’s Creek, now have a dedicated platform to enjoy the series. CBC has launched a new free ad-supported television (FAST) channel exclusively focused on the show. The channel features all six seasons of Schitt’s Creek, along with the special finale, “Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell.”

This new channel is accessible via CBC’s Gem streaming service, which offers a free ad-supported option or an ad-free subscription for $5.99 per month. In addition, the Schitt’s Creek Channel is set to expand its reach by being available on LG Channels and The Roku Channel later this year.

The launch marks CBC’s fourth FAST channel, following the introductions of channels dedicated to CBC Comedy, Heartland, and Murdoch Mysteries. While CBC has maintained a longstanding partnership with Netflix Canada, currently, only three seasons of Schitt’s Creek are available on that platform.

The rise of FAST channels reflects shifting viewer preferences, especially as subscription streaming services continue to increase their prices. Data indicates that these channels are gaining traction among audiences, as ads become a more appealing option compared to higher monthly fees associated with traditional streaming subscriptions.

With its unique blend of humor and heart, Schitt’s Creek has garnered a dedicated fan base, making this channel a timely addition for viewers seeking to revisit the Roses’ misadventures. As the popularity of such channels grows, CBC’s strategic moves could serve as a valuable model for other networks navigating the evolving entertainment landscape.
