Plainfield Students Launch Engaging Wolf Pack Podcast on YouTube
Students at Wesmere Elementary School in Plainfield have introduced a new platform for sharing school news and celebrating achievements with the launch of the Wolf Pack Podcast. The initiative is part of the school’s “alpha Wolf Club,” which is designed for fourth and fifth graders and focuses on fostering a welcoming environment for all students.
The podcast serves as a creative outlet for students and aims to enhance communication within the school community. According to the club’s organizers, speech-language pathologist Megan Eberle and fifth-grade teachers Clara Davidson and Ashley Richard, the club’s mission is to ensure that every student feels a true sense of belonging.
Engaging Students Through Leadership and Creativity
The alpha Wolf Club consists of approximately 70 members who have been active for the past four years. The podcast is a new initiative for the 2025-26 school year, with its inaugural episode debuting on October 22. This project allows students to participate in various committees such as welcoming, school spirit, and special events, alongside the podcast team.
Each month, students will have the opportunity to contribute to the podcast, with hosts learning essential skills like teamwork and organization. During the first episode, fifth-grade hosts Hayden Castro, Londyn Robinson, and Olivia Marcos discussed upcoming events, including Unity Day, Trunk-or-Treat, and the school book fair. They also explored themes of friendship and featured an interview with former student Sofia Ramirez.
Castro emphasized the podcast’s accessibility, stating, “Not all people have time to read a newsletter, but they can listen to the podcast in the car.” Robinson echoed this sentiment, describing the experience as “fun and inspiring.”
Monthly Episodes Foster Community Engagement
The podcast episodes are posted monthly on YouTube, allowing teachers to incorporate them into their morning classroom meetings. Eberle encourages students to make the podcast their own, noting that hosts will rotate for each episode. “Even if a student isn’t in the podcast, they still have ways to influence the content,” Davidson added, highlighting the inclusive nature of the initiative.
As the Wolf Pack Podcast takes flight, it not only serves as a medium for sharing school news but also as a platform that empowers students to express themselves and engage with their peers. This innovative effort by Wesmere Elementary illustrates how student-led initiatives can enrich the educational experience and strengthen community ties.
