AT&T Raises Home Internet Prices by $5 Starting December 1
AT&T has announced a price increase for its home internet services, effective December 1, 2025. The monthly fee will rise by $5, attributed to rising operational costs. Customers are being notified of this change through email, marking yet another adjustment in the pricing structure for AT&T’s internet plans.
This increase follows a similar price hike of $5 implemented in November 2024. Notably, customers who subscribed within the last year or those participating in the Access from AT&T program for low-income households will not be affected by this latest change. An AT&T spokesperson explained, “To keep giving you the high-quality service you expect, we need to adjust our internet plan prices as our business needs change and costs go up.”
Discounts Available for Customers
AT&T is offering several discounts aimed at offsetting the new price increase. Customers who enroll in autopay can receive a discount of $10 per month when signing up through a bank account, or $5 via a debit card. Additionally, holders of the AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi can benefit from a $5 monthly discount. According to AT&T, these discounts will be reflected in the first two billing cycles after enrollment.
Frustration around rising costs has been voiced by customers on platforms like Reddit. While some express concern about corporate practices, others recognize the advantages of having access to fiber internet. One user remarked, “I’d kill to even get cable, much less fiber. Rural life is not for tech people,” indicating the disparity in internet access across different regions. Another user defended the price increase, stating, “It’s worth it. My AT&T fiber is insanely fast and reliable.”
Trends in Internet Pricing
The sentiment regarding rising home internet prices is echoed in recent research. A study conducted by CNET and the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society revealed that nearly 63% of adults in the United States experienced an increase in their internet bills in 2024. On average, these individuals paid an additional $195 compared to the previous year, with almost half reporting issues with unreliable connectivity.
As consumers navigate these changes, the conversation around internet pricing continues to evolve. Many are calling for improved service quality alongside the rising costs, reflecting a growing frustration within the industry. As AT&T implements this new pricing strategy, customers will be left to weigh the value of their service against the increased monthly fees.
