Oboard Unveils Centralized Check-In System for Asynchronous Teams
Oboard has launched a centralized check-in system designed to enhance visibility for teams working in asynchronous environments. This new feature aims to streamline how organizations track progress on their objectives and key results (OKRs) without increasing the frequency of meetings. The update combines essential progress data and narrative context into a single workflow, providing clearer insights into team performance week to week.
Enhancing Transparency in Asynchronous Work
The rise of asynchronous work has introduced unique challenges, particularly in maintaining transparency regarding team progress. While teams may be working efficiently, the absence of a centralized platform to capture updates can lead to a lack of clarity. Oboard’s centralized check-in system addresses this issue by consolidating progress reporting into a coherent format. This development is particularly timely as more companies are embracing asynchronous workflows.
According to Margo Sakova, head of marketing at Oboard, “Regular check-ins are crucial for teams to understand what has changed and why. Our new system allows teams to maintain a continuous narrative of their progress, even when working across different time zones.”
Key Features of the New Check-In System
Oboard’s check-in system offers several features aimed at simplifying the tracking of progress:
- A centralized check-in feed that provides updates in chronological order, including details such as the author, timestamp, and status changes. This creates a clear narrative of goal evolution.
- Instant visibility of the last update for each goal, accessible across multiple views including the Home page, Dashboards, and Roadmap. This feature helps teams differentiate between actual stagnation and merely missing updates.
- A streamlined check-in window that facilitates simultaneous updates of progress values and contextual information, reducing the need for back-and-forth communication across various tools.
- An automatic historical timeline for each objective, showcasing past updates without the need to sift through emails or spreadsheets.
- A collaborative layer that allows team members to respond directly to check-ins, keeping discussions relevant and attached to specific updates.
These elements work together to provide a comprehensive view of team progress, making it easier for members to stay aligned despite differing schedules.
Furthermore, the system introduces flexible check-in reminders that can be integrated with popular communication tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Discord. Users can customize their check-in schedules—weekly, biweekly, or monthly—ensuring that updates occur even when team members are not online simultaneously.
“These reminders create a predictable reporting cycle without adding to meeting fatigue,” Sakova noted. “In asynchronous environments, this feature can determine whether goals remain visible or gradually fade from focus.”
As organizations increasingly rely on tools that consolidate progress, context, and history, Oboard’s new check-in system exemplifies a shift towards lightweight structures that facilitate collaboration without necessitating simultaneous online presence.
For teams interested in exploring the new workflow, Oboard offers a demo environment to experience its features firsthand. The introduction of this centralized check-in system is expected to save teams significant time and effort, allowing for a more streamlined approach to tracking progress.
