Oboard Introduces Centralized Check-In System for Async Teams
Oboard, a provider of OKR (Objectives and Key Results) and KPI tracking software, has launched a new centralized check-in system aimed at enhancing visibility for asynchronous teams. This update, released in March 2024, addresses the challenges posed by the rise of remote work where progress can often become obscured without shared tools for tracking changes.
Enhancing Team Visibility in Asynchronous Work
Asynchronous work environments allow teams to operate across different time zones without the need for simultaneous online presence. However, this flexibility often leads to difficulties in monitoring progress and maintaining a unified understanding of shared goals. Oboard’s new check-in system is designed to bridge this gap by consolidating updates and contextual information into a single, easy-to-navigate workflow.
The new system features a centralized check-in feed that displays updates in chronological order, including the author, timestamp, and current status of each goal. This feature helps teams construct a coherent narrative of their progress, something that is often challenging in asynchronous settings. By providing instant visibility into when a goal was last updated, teams can differentiate between genuine stagnation and simple oversight.
Streamlined Reporting and Collaboration
Oboard’s check-in system also includes a streamlined window for users to update progress values while adding contextual information simultaneously. This reduces the need to juggle multiple tools, allowing for more effective communication. An automatic historical timeline for each objective highlights past updates, offering teams a clear view of their progress without needing to sift through various platforms.
Collaboration is further enhanced with a lightweight feature that allows team members to reply directly to specific check-ins. This keeps discussions tied to the relevant work rather than scattering them across different communication channels such as Slack or email.
To reinforce consistent reporting habits, Oboard has introduced flexible check-in reminders that integrate with tools like Microsoft Teams, Discord, and email. Users can set notifications on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, ensuring that check-ins occur regularly, even when team members are not available at the same time.
This feature is particularly beneficial in distributed environments, as it establishes a predictable reporting cycle without necessitating additional meetings or coordination. As a result, goals remain visible and actionable, which is crucial for maintaining progress in async teams.
The launch of Oboard’s centralized check-in system comes at a time when many organizations are looking to streamline their reporting processes as they embrace asynchronous workflows. According to Margo Sakova, head of marketing at Oboard, the new system is tailored to support teams in keeping their work visible and aligned without the burden of excessive meetings.
By consolidating progress updates into a single workflow, Oboard aims to save teams valuable time while enhancing clarity around their objectives. Teams interested in exploring this new feature can access a demo environment provided by Oboard.
As remote work continues to evolve, tools like Oboard’s check-in system are becoming essential for organizations seeking to maintain productivity and transparency in their operations.
