Jean Lorraine Goldade (née Fischer) passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by her family. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to August and Martha Fischer, Jean was the second of three children. Her upbringing on a family farm in Hilda, Alberta, instilled in her a strong work ethic and a resilient spirit that defined her throughout her life.

Over the years, Jean lived in various locations, including Medicine Hat, Pincher Creek, Lloydminster, and Red Deer. In 1981, she and her husband, Albert, moved to a farm near Bentley, Alberta, where they built a new home along the Blindman River. This location became a significant part of their lives until her passing.

Professional Accomplishments and Passions

Jean was not only known for her strength and independence but also for her successful career in financial services and the Alberta provincial government, which spanned over thirty years. She was a dedicated member of the board of directors for the Red Deer Co-op for seven years, demonstrating her commitment to community involvement.

Upon retiring in 1995, Jean and Albert embraced their passion for travel, exploring North America, Europe, and Asia. In 2010, they visited their ancestral heritage in the Odessa region of Ukraine. Most recently, in September 2025, they attended two Blue Jays games at Yankee Stadium in New York City, showcasing their love for both travel and sports.

Jean also enjoyed spending winters in Palm Desert, California, after purchasing a home there in 2009. She cherished the sun and cultivated a wide circle of friends within the Sun City Palm Desert community. Active participation in social clubs, including the Canadian Club and the Quilters Society, highlighted her vibrant social life. She served as Secretary and Treasurer for the Quilters Society and actively supported her husband, Albert, at his softball games.

Legacy and Celebration of Life

Jean’s passion for golf was evident as she participated in the ladies’ league at Lakewood, where she also held the position of Club Treasurer. In 2021, the couple placed their holiday trailer at the Lakewood Eden RV Park, creating lasting summer memories with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Albert; sons, Craig and Cameron; siblings, Marvin and Barb; grandchildren, Jennifer, Elijah, Sophia, and William; and a great-grandchild, Mila. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Legacy Centre Auditorium, Legacy Place, located at #1 England Way, Red Deer, Alberta, on January 16, 2026. Guests are invited to arrive by 13:00, with the formal program starting at 13:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lacombe Health Trust at www.lacombehealthtrust.com or to STARS Air Ambulance at www.stars.ca. Jean’s cremation was entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium in Red Deer, Alberta. Friends and family can share condolences, memories, and photos at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
