Remembering Cameron Douglas Sutherland: Community Leader and Family Man
Cameron Douglas Sutherland, a cherished community member and family man, passed away peacefully at the Prince George Hospice on December 21, 2025. He was 75 years old. Sutherland’s contributions to his community, particularly through the Spruce City Lions, and his deep commitment to family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Born in 1950, Cameron was predeceased by several family members, including his granddaughter, Kallie, and his parents, Doug and Mary Sutherland. He also mourned the loss of his aunt, Jean Heitt, and his brother-in-law, Christopher Smith. Cameron leaves behind his wife, Marilyn Hinton Sutherland, and his sons, Jeff Hinton and Cal Hinton. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nevada, Payden, and Jay Hinton along with their children, including Raea, Taylor, Jaymie, Ty, and Mason. Cameron’s sister, Christine, and her children also survive him.
Cameron dedicated much of his life to community service. His involvement with the Spruce City Lions highlighted his commitment to local charities and the overall betterment of his community. In honor of his legacy, family and friends will gather in March 2025 to celebrate his life, sharing stories and memories that reflect his impact on those around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends consider making a donation to one of the local charities supported by the Spruce City Lions, a testament to Cameron’s values and dedication to helping others. Arrangements are being handled by Grace Memorial Funeral Home in Vanderhoof.
As members of the community come together to remember Cameron Douglas Sutherland, his spirit and contributions will undoubtedly continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
