Northern Ontario Man Wins $100,000 with Instant Crossword Ticket
A man from northern Ontario, Albert Carl Desjardins, has claimed a significant lottery prize of $100,000 after successfully revealing six words on an Instant Crossword Trippler ticket. Desjardins, who resides in Schumacher, purchased the ticket, which is part of a popular instant game, for $5. The game boasts odds of winning any prize at approximately 1 in 3.76.
The Instant Crossword Trippler, identified as Game #3308, allows players to scratch off 18 letters, matching them against puzzle areas and six bonus words. Desjardins’s win was confirmed by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), which noted that the winning ticket was purchased at a Circle K store located on Algonquin Boulevard West in Timmins, Ontario.
Details of the Lottery Win
Desjardins’s win has generated excitement in the local community, although specific plans for his newfound wealth have not been disclosed. OLG did not provide additional details regarding his intentions. Despite attempts by CTV News to reach Desjardins for a personal comment, he remained unavailable.
In a statement, the lottery retailer emphasized the significance of Desjardins’s victory, stating, “He is celebrating after winning a $100,000 top prize.”
Promoting Responsible Gambling
The OLG is committed to promoting responsible gambling practices. According to their website, “OLG supports safe play and wants to keep the fun in the game.” They are particularly proud of their Playsmart program, which offers resources and information regarding gambling games. The organization encourages individuals to seek help if they or someone they know faces gambling-related challenges.
As lottery games continue to capture public interest, the story of Albert Carl Desjardins serves as a reminder of the thrill of winning and the importance of playing responsibly. More information about the Instant Crossword Trippler can be found on the OLG’s official website.
