Mont St. Joseph Home Hosts Exciting Grandparents Day Celebration
Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert is set to welcome the community on September 14, 2024, for its annual Grandparents Day event. This cherished occasion will feature live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and a barbecue, all taking place at Prime Minister’s Park starting at 14:30.
“Grandparents Day is a nationally celebrated holiday, typically observed on the second Sunday in September. It’s one of our favorite traditions here at Mont St. Joseph Home,” said Jessica Gale, the Foundation Development Director. The event aims to foster connections between residents and their families, allowing them to share meaningful moments together.
The day promises a variety of activities, including fun games for children and face painting. The highlight will be the fourth annual ball drop raffle, which has generated significant excitement this year. “This year, we sold out all 3,000 tickets well in advance,” Gale noted. Ticket holders will have their numbers associated with golf balls dropped from a fire department ladder, with cash prizes awarded to the first three balls that land in the hole below.
Gale expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “The event is becoming a staple at the home, and more residents of Prince Albert are marking it on their calendars.” The enthusiasm surrounding the ball drop raffle indicates its growing popularity, as many attendees are already inquiring about next year’s event.
“The excitement resonates with the community, which is fantastic for us. It helps ensure that our foundation can continue to support our home and maintain a welcoming environment for residents,” she added.
This year’s Grandparents Day will also serve as a fundraiser, with all proceeds directed toward a significant renovation program aimed at enhancing the dining experience for residents. Gale emphasized the importance of keeping grandparents feeling valued within the community. “By inviting everyone into our home, residents can see and feel this love,” she explained.
The home provides a unique opportunity for residents to enjoy the festivities without the need to travel. “They can host as many visitors as they wish, and we take care of the meal, making it feel just like a gathering at home,” Gale said.
As anticipation builds for this beloved annual event, Mont St. Joseph Home is poised to create lasting memories and strengthen community bonds through the celebration of Grandparents Day.
