Isabella Baker Honored as Duncan Rotary’s October Student of the Month
Isabella Baker, a senior at Frances Kelsey Secondary School, has been recognized as the Rotary Club of Duncan’s Student of the Month for October. The award was presented to her by Rotary president Bob Cairns on November 12, 2023, during a ceremony that also included the school principal, Kevin van der Linden.
During the presentation, Principal van der Linden commended Baker for her commitment to improving the student experience at Frances Kelsey. As president of the school’s Student Leadership Program, she plays a vital role in supporting her peers through various challenges encountered in high school.
Baker is not only involved in leadership but also serves as the editor of the school yearbook, where she showcases her creativity and dedication. Her presence is particularly impactful as she frequently assists younger students in navigating the pressures of high school life.
With graduation approaching in the spring, Baker is looking ahead to her future educational opportunities, planning to pursue further studies in September. Her achievements reflect her strong commitment to her community and her peers.
Founded in 1930, the Duncan Rotary Club is made up of individuals dedicated to giving back to the community and enhancing the lives of those in need. The Student of the Month award aims to recognize outstanding students like Baker who contribute positively to their schools and communities.
