Honda Civic Claims Title of Best-Selling Car in Canada for 2025
The Honda Civic has maintained its status as Canada’s best-selling passenger car for 2025, achieving this milestone for the 26th time in the last 28 years. The model saw total sales of 31,054 units, which includes hybrids, sedans, and hatchbacks, solidifying its position as “Canada’s Car.”
In addition to the Civic’s success, the Honda CR-V Hybrid emerged as the best-selling hybrid vehicle in Canada, with 55,987 units sold. Of these, 35,325 were hybrid models, highlighting the growing popularity of electric vehicles among Canadian consumers.
Honda’s Commitment to Electrification
Hybrid-electric models of the Civic, CR-V, and Accord accounted for 43% of Honda Canada’s total sales in 2025. This trend is a significant component of Honda’s future electrification strategy.
Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President at Honda Canada, expressed gratitude for the Civic’s continued popularity. “Year after year, Canadians choose Civic because it consistently delivers what matters most; quality, reliability, value, and driving pleasure,” he stated. Korkor added that the success of both the Civic and CR-V Hybrid reflects the dedication of the associates at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario.
Since 1988, various models of the Civic and CR-V have been manufactured at the Honda of Canada facility, which is the longest-running Honda plant currently producing the Civic model. Over 6 million Civics have been built in Alliston, making it a significant site in Honda’s production network. The plant is also designated as the global lead facility for manufacturing the CR-V and the North American lead plant for the CR-V Hybrid. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, Honda of Canada Mfg. continues to play a pivotal role in the company’s operations.
The Civic, Honda’s longest-running automotive nameplate, has sold approximately 2.3 million units in Canada since its introduction in 1973. Meanwhile, the CR-V has become Honda’s best-selling model in North America, with over 15 million units sold globally since its launch in 1995.
