Geneva Church Hosts Fall Rummage Sale to Support Local Causes

The United Methodist Church of Geneva is set to host its annual fall rummage sale from October 23 to October 25, aiming to raise funds for various local organizations. This popular event will take place at the church, located at 211 Hamilton Street.
On October 23, shoppers can browse from 18:00 to 20:00, while the sale will continue on October 24 from 09:00 to 17:00 and conclude on October 25 from 09:00 to 12:00. The sale will feature a diverse range of items, including gently used books, furniture, high-end fashion items, games, household products, jewelry, and clothing for children.
The rummage sale will also offer a special “Fill-A-Bag” option for just $10 on October 25, allowing customers to fill a bag with selected items. Adding to the community spirit, a bake sale will be held in the church’s library during the event, providing delicious treats for attendees.
The previous spring rummage sale achieved remarkable success, raising over $20,500. The funds collected were distributed by the church’s Women’s Ministry group to significant local organizations, including TriCity Family Services, Mutual Ground, and the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Other beneficiaries included Lazarus House, TriCity Health Partner Med/Dental Clinic, Valley Shelter Workshop, Everytown Gun Safety, Meals on Wheels, Midwest Mission Distribution Center, Glory Gardens, Conservation Foundation, United Women in Faith, and Hesed House.
The rummage sale not only provides affordable shopping options for the community but also plays a crucial role in supporting local initiatives that aim to improve the lives of residents. Attendees are encouraged to participate in this fundraising effort, which combines community service with the joy of finding unique items.
